About Us

Hi there and welcome! My name is Kylie and I love connecting with community and sharing the many rewarding and easy ways we can reduce our household waste.

Change to Zero is my blog where I hope people will find a little inspiration and information for making some changes toward zero waste living. I also run a Community Group that promotes low waste living in the local area. We love to connect with others and work together to make a difference via holding various events, as well as reaching out to community groups, schools and businesses.

I am presently doing this in my “free time” amongst running a busy household with two kids and a cat (I used to be strictly a dog-person only and now very much appreciate how amazing, hilarious and affectionate cats are), working a day job and enjoying too many hobbies, including sewing, crochet and playing clarinet in my rad group Clarinet Collective (well, we think we’re rad)!

“Think global, act local” is one of my mantras and to address the challenges of plastic waste at a global level, Change to Zero acts locally in the community of Aspendale Gardens and surrounds (although I love to hear from the wider community!). Change to Zero has a vision of a society that values refusing unnecessary, wasteful products and where zero or low-waste replacements and ways of life are celebrated, encouraged, talked about, and become the norm.

You can read more about about Change to Zero in our FAQs and read more about reducing your waste on my blog, including how my journey began. There are so many great blogs, books and other resources out there with tips on how to reduce your waste and I’ve listed a few in my resources . I do not attempt to recreate the fantastic information that is out there, rather add my own information and tips and be another example to others, particularly in my local area. I am just one voice of many.

I’d love to hear from you with ideas for reducing waste and look forward to connecting with others in the community who are ready to make the Change to Zero!
